We can cater for all levels of ability!
The areas in which we operate are chosen because they offer a range of conditions to suit all skill levels. When booking, let us know your level of experience, if any, and we can design a programme to suit. If in any doubt, we are always happy to talk through any concerns you may have regarding whether a trip or expedition is suitable for you.
In all cases, we operate with safety being paramount, and will modify the programme if we feel that there is any risk to you or other clients.
To give you an indication, these levels will help decide what trip or expedition is best for you:
Beginner- never sat in a kayak before, but would like to try the sport
Novice- have done one or two day or half-day trips, confident enough about exiting the kayak and wearing a spraydeck, seeking to improve your basic paddling skills and explore more by kayak.
Intermediate- have done several trips by kayak, have developed forward paddling skills, and are reasonably confident at controlling you boat. You have had at least some experience of more challenging conditions (windy/tidal/rough water) and would like to try more of this. Perhaps also happy to try some longer trips.
Advanced- experience of handling a boat in rough conditions, confident in a sea kayak. Able to undertake a day trip that involves 4-5 hours paddling. Rolling- if (like most seakayakers) you do not have a “bomb-proof” roll, this does not exclude you! We recognise that many good kayakers aren’t 100% confident when it comes to rolling.
What to Bring
On Full Day and Half-Day/Evening trips, you need:
- Towel
- Footwear you don’t mind getting wet e.g. old trainers (but not too bulky)
- change of clothing
- one or two spare items of warm clothing e.g. fleece (we have dry bags to carry all this)
- hat
- suncream if sunny- very easy to burn on water.
- (optional) Camera/video (we have some small drybags you can use for these)
- Positive attitude!
On expeditions, we will send you a more comprehensive list on booking.
